ACTIVITIES FOR THE MONTH Mrs. Hine presided over the monthly meeting of the Plunket Society, held on Tuesday afternoon. In their monthly report the Plunket nurses stated that there were 1089 old cases and 105 new cases on the books. Visitors to the oflices totalled 916 adults, 810 babies, 109 older children, and 13 others. Visits paid numbered 254. In the pre-natal section there were 9 new cases and 38 return visits. The nurses also reported that Dr. Nannestad had visited the preschool clinic during April. The matron of Stewart Karitane Hospital reported that during the month 20 babies and 8 mothers were admitted, and 22 babies and 9 mothers dscharged. cases having been received from Wanganui, Feeding, Hihitahi, Kaponga, Inglewood, Woodville, Fordell, Palmerston North, Stratford, Mangaweka, Bulls. Pahi-i--tua, Marton, Taumarunui, and Levin. Miss Fitzgibbon, nursing adviser, wrote with reference to the position of sister at Stewart Karitane Hospital made vacant by the resignation of Sister Forbes, who is leaving to take up general nursing. Mrs. Hjne moved, and Mrs. Nelson seconded, that Miss Fitzgibbon’s recommendation that Miss R. M. Honeyfield be appointed to the position be accepted. Donations were received from the following, to whom the society extends its appreciation and thanks: Marlon Plunket Society, £1(1 to the funds of Stewart Karitane Hospital, and £5 5s from Mrs. E. Robinson to the fund . of the Plunket Society. The secretary read the annual report and statement of accounts to the mooting, after which Mrs. Ryan moved, and Mrs. Blake seconded, that they he adopted subject to the approval of the Central Council. It was decided to arrange the date of the annual meeting at the next monthly meeting to be held in June. Mrs. Hine gave an interesting resume of the meeting of the Dominion Council she had attended recently in Dunedin. The question of the annual effort, was discussed, and the secretary was instructed to apply to the City Council for permission to hold a “street day” on Wednesday, September 30, 1942. Advice has been received from Dominion headquarters that the Provincial Conference will be held in Wanganui on Thursday, August 13.
