TOUR IN SCOTLAND
N.Z. HIGH COMMISSIONER London. March 16. The High Commissioner for New Zealand. Mr. Jordan, while in Scotland, visited ships commanded by New Zealand officers, and also Fleet Air Arm and R.A.F. stations, where New Zealanders are training. Lieut.-Commanders J. G. Hilliard, N. L. Mackie, Peter Phipps, H. A. Dunnet and Lieutenant. A. A. Bell, of the R.N.Z.N.V.R., reported very favourably on the New Zealand ratings under their command, and on the efficiency they have attained in the Royal Navy. Mr. Jordan inspected the messes and sleeping quarters and congratulated the officers on the excellent arrangements made for the comfort of the personnel. At the air stations. Mr. Jordan met numerous New Zealand officers of the Fleet Air Arm. and o her New Zealand airmen and members of th- 1 ground staffs. He addressed them and observed their intensive training. During his tour Mr. Jordan visited two mills which are manufacturing linen from New Zealand flax. The director of the mills said that he was extremely satisfied with the quality of the flax and was hopeful that it would be possible to receive many more shipments. Mr. S. R. Skinner naval liaison officer and Souadron-Leader Gamble, air liaison officer accompanied Mr. Jordan on his tour.
