TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD

KEITH STREET’S LAST MEETING FOR THE YEAR. The Keith Street Townswomen's Guild held its last meeting for the current year at the Glasgow Street Hall. About sixty members and friends spent a very enjoyable afternoon. Miss Sampson was in the chair. Reports were given of the work of the various groups and the leaders thanked for their efforts in making the groups a success. Flowers were presented to the following:—Mrs. Duncan and Mrs. Roy (arts and crafts) Mrs. Bancks (drama), Mrs. Burchfield (afternoon tea). Mrs. Gibbard (knitting), Mrs. Rivers (sewing). Miss Sampson (study). The programme began with a play, "It’s a trying Time.’’ produced by Mrs. Bancks. in which the following ladies took part: Mesdames Booth, Donachie. Gibbard, Kitney, Reid, Rennie and Smiley. The play was set in Scotland and the players were presented with a bunch of heather from Loth Lomond, by Mrs. Archibald, of the Wanganui Townswomen’s Guild. Mrs. Fossett sang two charming songs and Mrs. Alan Brown gave two very amusing recitations. Both ladies received bouquets. Afternoon tea was served at the end of the hall and all had the opportunity to view the exhibition of their work arranged by the Arts and Craft Group, under Mrs. Duncan and Mrs. Roy. There was also a display of souvenirs sent homo by the men on active service. This proved very interesting to mothers present.
