WAITOTARA ARCHDEACONRY GROUP THE ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Wailotara Group of the Mothers' Union was held on Thursday, May 20, in the Christ Church schoolroom. The Ven. Archdeacon Young presided, and opened the meeting with prayer, after which he welcomed all the new members to the group. Th minutes of the last annual meeting were read and confirmed. A statement of accounts was then read and it was moved that same be adopted. The chairman congratulated Mrs. Lambert on the work and result of the Archdeaconry Group. Mrs. Lambert’s report was then presented and read as follows: —

“Notwithstanding the increasing demand which the war is placing on us all, I feel that this committee has, during the year under review, amply justified its existence. The unity and fellowship among the various branches has been a feature of the year’s work, and must react favourably on the work of all the branches. Six committee meetings have been held, and although it has often been hard to find a date which is not already occupied, the attendance of committee members has been very good. Two quiet days were held during the year, one in May, when we were the guests of the branch at St. Peter’s, Gonville, and one at Christ Church in October. We wish to thank Canon Watson and Archdeacon Young for their helpful leadership on these twe occasions, rhe husband’s evening, held in June, was a popular and successful function, but we think it best to postpone the next one until the war is over. Our Lady Day Festival was very well attended, and we were delighted to have Mrs. Holland as our guest. Addresses by our archdeacon and Sister Elsie were much appreciated. We would like to congratulate Aramoho on acquiring a handsome banner, and hope that in the near future all the branches will be similarly equipped. The choir has appeared ana sung on many occasions, and proved its usefulness in adding to the dignity of our services. liieir practices, unfortunately, have been few and far between, owing to the war. We very much regret that the bishop was prevented by illness from paying his promised visit i;i August. We are glad to know the bishop is now recovered, and that the Baptistry Fund —about which he was to speak—is now firmly established in all its tranches ana going ahead steadily. We regret that no suitable leaner was found tor the Fellowship of Marriage, but are glad to report that many of the branc-iies ate now enrolling young mothers as full members. A visit to Koriniti, which was arranged for April 8, had to be abandonee on account of the weather, out we hope to make the trip m the summer, in order that we might have the fullest possible representation on the National Council ol Women, a third delegate , Mrs. D. G. O'Toole, has been appointed for the ensuing year, and we have also set up a smaii advisory committee to confer with the delegates. We would like to thank Mrs. C. R. White and Mrs. C. F. Brown 101 their faithful ana useful work m this connection during the last year. 1 attendee two Diocesan Council meetings during the year and gave a report of the activities of this committee at tne annual meeting. It was again elected a vke-presiaent of the Diocesan Council. In April Mrs. Parr tendered her resignation a; recieI iaiy ow ing to her nusbanu being (appointed vicar ol Lyall Bay. We are

I grateful lor her work amongst us, and ; wish her well in her new sphere, I should like to thank our archdeacon j for his ever ready sympathy and helpfulness, and also the officers and the members for their tine loyalty during the year. To all new members We extend a hearty welcome and confidently look forward to a further period of loving fellowship and ser- ! vice." I On the occasion of Mrs. Boss' imI pending departure lor Christchurch, Mrs. Lambert, in a few weli-chosen (words, spoke in high appreciation of | her work and helpl ulncss in connec;tion with our group, and presented (Mrs. Boss with a beautiful posy. Mrs. (Boss suitably responded and said that [anything she had done for the group 'was a work of pleasure and love. | The election of officers then took iplace, ana resulted as follows:—Mrs. Lambert (president), Mrs. Newsome |(secretary), Mrs. O'Toole (treasurer), being elected, together with delegates
