RANGIWAEA WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

SUCCESSFUL FLOWER SHOW. On Saturday, February 8, the members of the Rangiwaea Women’s Institute held their annual flower show and, despite the recent spell of dry weather, the event was most successful. Entries in nearly all of the sections were far greater than anticipated, with the result that the interior of the Rangiwaea Hall presented a gay and colourful appearance. Several beautiful spikes of hydrangea exhibited by Mrs. R. Collier, attracted much attention. The children’s section was, as usual, a prominent feature of the show, more especially the decorative work, some of which was really clever and artistic. The show, which was officially opened by the Rev. E. T. King, was open in the evening, and a very pleasant time was spent in games and competitions. The jumble and ice cream stalls were both well patronised. The following were awarded prizes in the gladiolas and dahlia section. (Judge, Rev. E. T. King.) Gladiolus, one spike.—Mrs. F.
