MR. W. J. ROGERS TO ACT FOR MR. J. B. COTTERILL DEPARTURE FOR CAMP THIS WEEK It has been arranged that Mr. W. J. Rogers, Mayor of Wanganui, will act for .Mr. J. B. Cotterill, M.P., during Mr. Cotterill’s absence undergoing military training at Trentham. Mr. Cotterill, who is to be one of the noncommissioned officers in the second echelon, leaves for Trentham by the mid-day train on Saturday. “Before departing, I would like t-o take the opportunity of expressing to the people of Wanganui, local bodies and other organisations in the city, my appreciation of the co-operation I have received in my efforts to further the interests of Wanganui and district,” Mr. Cotterill said yesterday. “During my absence, Mr. Rogers will be attending to business on my behalf, thus ensuring that the interests of local organisations and my constituents will not be neglected because I am taking my place, along with other young men, in assisting the war effort of the British Comnt&nwealth. "1 know it is the fervent wish of all to see the present conflict of arms ended at the earliest possible moment by the success of the Allied cause, and I trust that I may soon be back in Wanganui pursuing my normal course of life, working in the interests of th? people.”
