WAVERLEY WEDDING

McKenzie—mathieson ‘ St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, ' Waverley, was the scene of - a very ; pretty wedding on Tuesday, October : 24, when Gwen Eila, youngest daughter, of Mrs. and the late Mr. J. H. Mathieson, Chester Street. Waverley, : was married to Douglas Keith, twin son of . Mr. and Mrs. K. McKenzie, Palmerston North. The Rev. E. R. E. Ross officiated at the ceremony and Mr. J. Johnston, Wellington, playea the wedding music. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride with cherry'blossom and lilac and on each pew dainty posies of lily of the valley had been arranged. The bride made a pretty picture as she entered the church With her cousin, Mr. R. Muir (Hawera). Her .model gown was of pearl slipper satin with needlerun scolloped insertion, appliqued in rows gradually dipping at the back to form a train. The cowl neck was caught at the corners to form a square neckline by smal; sprays of lily of the valley, while the back of the bodice was finished with scolloped edges and a row of small satin buttons to the waistline. Her lovely embroidered veil was. worn well back off the face and held in position by a dainty topknot, of lily of the valley, and she carried a bouquet of cream roses and lily of the valley. Attending her as bridesmaid was her sister. Miss Nesta Mathieson. who wore a charming frock of peach lace and georgette. The skirt was full and flared, inset with peach plisse georgette, while the neckline was heart-shaped and finished with pleated georgette. She carried a bouquet of the same shading and wore a spray of flowers in her hair to tone. Margaret Tilley, of Stratford, niece of the bride, and-Wendy Snushall, clad in slipper-length frocks lof plisse georgette, made dainty flower girls.

Their frocks were made alike in greenaway fashion with short ruched bodice and lull skirl falling to the feet. Their frocks were finished off with bows of ribbon on the shoulders falling to the hem of the frock. They wore sprays of rosebuds and blue forget-me-knots in their hair and carried hand-posies in shades to match their frocks. Mr. Hamish McKenzie < Palmersto:’ North), twin brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Messrs. Eachfan McKenzie and Arthur Dickie acted as ushers. After the ceremony a reception was held in St. Andrew’s Hall, which had been tastefully decorated, the tables being done-in colours to match the bridesmaids’ frocks. Pride of place was given to a handsome three-tiered wedding cake, which was surmounted by a silver, vase. containing lily of the valley. , ■ , .. To receive her guests the bride mother wore a model gown of navy wool georgette with cobweb lace forming lhe deep yolk and sleeves. Her hat was navy felt and taffeta finished with clover French flowers. She also wore a skunk stole and carried a toning bouquet. The bridegroom’s mother was wearing a smart brown and parchment figured gown worn under an edge-to-edge coat of brown finished with quilted fronts and a straw hat and I accessories to tone and carried an 1 autumn-shaded bouquet. I Mrs. R. Tilley (Stratford), sister of the bride, wore a storm blue embossed frock with contrasting picture hat and accessories and fox fur. The bride's travelling ensemble w as an American model frock of powder blue worn under a navy edge-to-edge coat with small quilted finishings. A small navy veiled toque with feather mounts and navy accessories completed a charming toilet. Mr. and Mrs. D. McKenzie’s future home will be in Waverley.
