A LENGTHY SESSION ADJOURNMENT NEXT FRIDAY UNTIL LATER DATE. Because His Hortour, Mr. Justice Smith, has to be in New Plymouth next. Monday to open the quarterly sessions of the Supreme Court there, it is intended to adjourn the sittings in Wanganui on Friday afternoon, and such matters as have not come to hearing by then will stand over until His Honour's return from New Plymouth. It is expected that the criminal cases in Wanganui will finish by Thursday night, and on Friday morning His Honour intends to take matters in bankruptcy and matters in di vorce. On the afternoon of Friday four matters in the miscellaneous civil list will be called. When fixtures were being made yesterday, His Honour said that he would be unable to take any civil jury cases this week. They would have to stand over until his return from New Plymouth. It has been on rare occasions only in recent times that the Court, at Wanganui has been required to sit more than a week. The Judge said yesterday that he had been informed that the criminal list had on it the largest, number of cases for 20 years. One of the seven cases was dealt with yesterday and another will be begun at 10 o’clock this morning.
