(Own Correspondent.i After the opening of the Raetihi Bowling Club the third annual, conference of bowling clubs (Wanganui Sub-centre) was held at Raetihi. Those present were: Messrs. A. Wilson, G. Manson, McKenzie and Deadman (Taumarunui*. Walson. McLeod, E. O. Lightband and W. F. Mahoney (Ohakune), C. D. Lynch, D. P. Searle, F. B. Soar and A. E. Urwin (Raetihi), W. B. Berridge, Mason. Glcdhiil and Davis (Taihape). Mr. Berridge apologised for the absence of the chairman. Mr. Reid, ol Taihape, owing to Mrs. Reid's illness. A resolution thanking Mr. Reid for his services as chairman for the 1938-39 | season and expressing regret at his wife's illness was passed. Mr. Urwin reported that on the departure of the secretary. Mr. C. M l Whyte, lo Otorohanga. (he books and accounts of the sub-centre had been | handed over to him. It was recalled that al the initial conference it had been agreed that, the position ot chairman should be held in rotation by members of the ■ various clubs. Mr. C. D. Lynch, of IRaetihi, was elected chairman for the 119.39-40 season and Mr. A. E. Urwin i (Raetihi) was appointed secretary. The statements of receipts and expenditure disclosed a credit balance of ;I3 3s. it being revealed that this was charged with the cost of engraving the Avon Cup and miniatures for season's 'winners of the Walsh Cup. I A decision was made to write to ■ Mr. C. M. Whyte, thanking him for I his services to the sub-centre and to forward a letter of sympathy to the !widow of the late Mr. T. S.
