MOTORISTS’ AFFAIRS

A.A. ANNUAL MEETING HEALTHY FINANCIAL POSITION There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Automobile Association (Wanganui' last night, .Mr. A. S. Burgess presiding. Moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, the president said that the membership was 4360, the objective last year being 5000. This might have been reached but for the outbreak of war and the restriction on the use of petrol. He believed that the 5000 mark would be achieved during the coming year. The get-you-homc service had proved of great benefit to members and members of other associations. The service was costly but th? object of the associations was to give their members every service possible. Meetings of the executive had been held in Taihap? and Feilding and he hoped that meetings would be held in those centres more regularly in the future. Feilding was now a branch of the association and not an agency. The balance-sheet showed the finances of the association to be in a healthy position. He hoped that in the early part of the coming year it would be possible to establish a clubroom for the use of members and members of other associations. Tribute to the work of the association was voiced by Mr. E. H. Lange, who said he travelled over the whole of the area served by the association. The service compared more than I favourably with that given by other ] associations. The following officers were elected: Presid nt, Mr. A. S. Burgess; vicepresident, Mr. P. D. England; executive council. Messrs. T. C. Kincaid. J. | G. Eliott. N. R. Bain, T. Dix, J. Ayl- I mer, D. G. O’Toole. S. G. Whit tall, E. ] Cole. G. W. Sampson, R. G. Taiboys, i and Dr. E. E. Porritt; auditor, Mr. T. Ballingall. Appreciation of the work of the i executive, the office staff and the ■ patrols was voiced by Mr. N. Fulton.
