TRIALS COMMENCE
I COLLIE DOG CHAMPIONSHIPS I Per Press Association 1 CHRISTCHURCH, June 19. The South Island and New Zealand Collie dog championship trials commenced at Tai Taptl to-day when 50 odd dogs of 63 entered in the first event, the long pull, completed their runs. The South Island class will be concluded to-morrow forenoon and the seven highest scoring dogs will then re-run the course for the New Zealand championship. The highest aggregate in two run’s will determine lhe winner. The weather to-day was cold and dull but remained fine overhead and the work generally was of a high standard. Many dogs with championship records are entered. The competitors taking part are from various districts of the east coast of the North Island, North, South, and I Central Otago, Southland, Marlborough and most of the Canterbury dis-
