A SHAMBLES
MARKET PLACE IN HAIFA SIMULTANEOUS EXPLOSION OF BOMBS (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) Received June 20. 1 a.m. HAIFA, June 19. As a result of the simultaneous explosion of two bombs in the market place, 15 Arabs are known to have been killed and 38 injured. Crowds rushing to the scene discovered the market place in a shambles. Broken and torn bodies had been hurdled considerable distances. Sleepers nearby were thrown from their beds. A Jew in a nearby street was stabbed to death a few minutes later. Troops placed a cordon around the area, closed shops throughout the city and brought to a standstill all traffic. A third bomb in a Jewish suburb later put out of action half the city’s telephones.
