CHILDREN'S FANCY DREbi DANCE

The Wanganui National Dancing Society held a very successful and enjoyable children’s fancy dress dance last Saturday evening, when MeGruer’s Hall was filled to capacity. The judging of the children’s fancy dresses was carried out by Mrs. Armitage, and the music for the evening was played by Miss Shirley Mills (piano), and Mr. J. Johnston (drums and piano-accordion). Items were given by the Durie Hill Mouth Organ Band, J. Mack, and J. Johnson, these items being much appreciated. The winners were:—Best dressed boy, Pat McGonigle; best dressed girl, Daphne Campbell; best dressed pair, Maureen and Desmond HMwk; national costumes, Joyce Davidson, Jack McGonigle, and Merle Byers; poster, Peter Levestam. The judge awarded special prizes to Beverley and Shirley Richards, Carmen Lockett, Beverley Trengrove, Edith Hurley, Vivienne Campbell, Peggy Turner, Wayne Howes, Barry Cave, and Ngarena Chambers.
