WOMEN'S INSTITUTES
MEETING AT RANGIWAEA The June meeting of the Rangiwaea Women's Institute was held last Thursday in the local hall. Owing to the absence of the president, the meeting was presided over by Mrs. W. Bell. After singing the Ode to Friendship, and the reciting of the Creed, business was dealt with. Miss D. James was welcomed as a new member. The subject taken for the “Golden Thread" series was “France," the talk proving very interesting. The committee served afternoon tea while the question competition was in progress. The bag apron competition was won by Mrs. Speedy, with Miss J. Bell second. In the competition for the pot o’ jelly. Mrs. Bayne was first, and Miss J. Bell second. The points for the premier flower went, to Mrs. Bayne. The institute meeting will be held on the third Tuesday of the month, instead of Thursdays. The competition will be a piece of coloured embroidery, and the Golden Thread subject will bo “Canada."
