WEDDING

MITCHELL—SYMES. On Saturday. June 3, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Symes, of Nukumaru, entertained a large number of relatives, and friends on the occasion of the marriage of their daughter Edna Miriam, Phyllis, to Andrew, Edward, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. James Mitchell, late of "The Falls," Kohi. The ceremony, which was conducted by the Rev. P. A. Stanley, Waverley, took place at Christ Church Wanganui. For the bridal party the colours chosen were lemon, amythist, and pink, and as they assembled before the I altar, the setting was very attractive. The bride, escorted by her father, in her pale lemon satin slim-fitting trained gown, looked very dainty, her veil prettily arranged off the the face, her lovely bouquet, of lilies, roses, carnations and maidenhair fern toned and finished her simple, but very becoming attire. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Symes, Marton, cousin, and Miss Blundell, a friend, who were dressed alike in amythist georgette, with sashes of darker shaded velvet, their head dress arrangement being most becoming. They too, carried beautiful bouquets. The little flowergirl. the bride’s only sister, looked sweet in her pretty pink frock, the shade suiting her lovely fair hair. She carried a basket of flowers. ’.’he bridegroom was attended by J. Atkin, as best man, and Mr. Symes, brother of the bride, as groomsman. Beautiful wedding music was played by the organist. After the ceremony the guests assembled at the Nukumaru Hall, where the reception was held; and were received by Mrs. Symes, who was wearing a navy costume and black hat with white plume. She was assisted by Mrs. Mitchell, also wearing a navy costume, and navy hat. Both carried prettv bouquets. The hall had been very nicely decorated by friend, tn the bridal shades, and on the long tables bowls of flowers looked very bright. On the bride’s table a beautifully decorated three-tier wedding cake held •pride of place.’ and it was a very happy party that sat round the tables which were laden with all the goods things usually provided at marriage feasts. The Rev. P. A. Stanley, who was in the chair, carried out the duties. Durin" the reception flashlight photos were taken. Before departing the guests had the opportunity of seeing the very large number of the most beautiful, and useful gifts that any bride could receive. The honeymoon was spent in the Waikato, after which Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell will take up residence at Kohi, Waverlej.
