OTAIHAPE ALPINE CLUB
Twelve members of the Otaihupc Alpine Club made a trip to Ruapehu during the week-end for the first skiing of the 1939 season. Most of the snow from last week's fall has thawed bat k to about 6000 ft. and the slopes about the Ruapehu Ski Club hut are practically devoid of snow. However, good ski-ing conditions prevailed just above Sail -Hut, and except lor a heavy mist and a lignt drizzle, the day was voted as quite successful for the early season. As soon as conditions improve and the downhill course is covered, the fortnightly competition for the Dick trophy will be run.
