PATEA R.S.A. ANNUAL MEETING

Financial membership during the year under review had passed the century, the total being 102 members, sated the committee’s report presented to the annual meeting of the Patea R.S.A. on Monday night. During the year a hospital visiting committee had again been active and taken the opportunity o£ providing comforts for those members who had had the misfortune to be laid up. A total of £46 16s Id had been expended by way of relief and in subsidising labour amongst the less fortunate members. In addition to this amount the association was also able to secure material assistance for these members from some of the funds vested in headquarters N.Z.R.S.A. The annual ball was again the “ball of the season” and it was hoped that the same loyal support would be forthcoming at this year’s function, which would probably be held in July. Thanks were again due to Mrs. C. S. Martin and her many helpers for the splendid results from the poppy day appeal, total sales constituting a record. Thanks were also accorded the president and members of the Patea Women's Institute for their continued kindness in providing afternoon tea for R.S.A. members and their wives at the conclusion of the Anzac Day parade, the efficient and ever-willing ladies’ committee who helped with the ball, Mr. R. W. fiandow for the free use of the Town Hall and supper room on Anzac Day and for all meetings and Mr. J. Haworth, who helped with the ball. The association was unfortunate in losing during the year Messrs. H. Palmer, D. Schwass, G. Murphy, L. E. Cotton, T. Clince and C. V. Whittington, members who had removed to other districts and best wishes for the future were extended to them. The election of officers resul'ed: President, Dr. W. T. Simmons; v,cepresidents, Messrs.
