SEASIDE IMPROVEMENT SOCIETY (Own Correspondent.) PATEA, March 21. A net credit of £5O 5s 3d was shown in the balance-sheet of the recent gala day presented by the secretary (Mr. H. Boagey), to a meeting of members of the Patea Seaside Improvement Society last week. The Borough Council advised that the electric meter in the dressing shed 1 had been tampered with, and if it happened again it would have to be removed. The secretary stated that an endeavour would be made to catch anyone interfering with the meter. The Borough Council also asked for information regarding a hose coupled to the water pipe. The chairman explained that the hose had been coupled to the pipe as a humane action, owing to some settlers being entirely without water. The hose had since been taken off. The council is to be advised, to this effect. Thanks are to be tendered the council for the use of the lorry on the gala day and for the electric light at a nominal figure. A donation of £3 3s was made to the Patea Band. Thanks were tendered all who sisted to make the gala successful . Messrs. Peacocke, Mairs and Adams were appointed, to interview Mr. J. N. Anderson and ask him to give the society some idea of the feasibility of constructing a footpath from the dredge wharf to the Patea beach along the river bank. Mr. H. Peacocke presided, and present were Messrs. Hemingway, H. Boagey, C. P. Bates, J. Mairs, E. O. Horner, R. Adams and T. Nelson.
