TRACK WORK AT HAWERA

RACE CALI. IN GREAT ORDER Final gallops lor the Taranaki meeting were a feature of the work at the Haw era tracks yesterday (writes "Goldspur" in the Hawera Star). Both the course proper, with the pegs wide out, and the plouga were available, with the going hard. Te Huia (Ryanl and Amoroso (Eley) finished practically together at the close of five furlongs in 1-5 2-5. Both horses put plenty of dash into their work. Fiancee (Ryan) traversed a similar distance in 1.61. She is to race on the second day at New Plymouth. Vivacious (Ryan) held the measure of Silver Gift (Eley) throughout five furlongs in 1.5. Viracious hit out with plenty of freedom. He is to start in the County Hack Handicap on Thursday. Friesland (Frisk) sprinted the last three furlongs ot two rounds of pacework in 37 3-ssec. He is progressing favourably. Professional (Cole) shaded Prime Quality (Prisk) over the concluding stages of live furlongs In 1.4 3-5. Prime Quality is a lazy track worker. He should not lack friends in his New Plymouth engagements. Chief Lord (Ryan) and Kilometre (prisk) were companions over half a mile in 50sec., a fair effort for two-year-olds. Race Call (Chaplin) was not to make time when traversing an easy six furlongs in 1.20 1-5. No fault can be found with his condition and he can be relied upon for his usual honest display on Thursday. Lady Boden (Reilly) and Race Away (Farland) got to I he end of five furlongs in 1.2 2-5. The former is endowed with a. line turn of speed. Yesterday morning Disturbed (Toni) and Maahanui (Eley) ran live furlongs in 1.3. Riding engagements announced for the first day of the Taranaki meeting include: R. W.
