AUSTRALIAN PRIME MINISTER. BROADCAST TO ANSWER PRESS CRITICISM. CANBERRA, March 3. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. A Lyons, in a national broadcast speci aliy arranged for the purpose o answering newspaper criticism, statei that Cabinet has not made any deci sion on the reported "standing army of 10,00 b men to be enlisted at tin rate of 2000 a year for the next fiv< years. Mr. Lyons also referred to news papers’ “guesswork” regarding na tional insurance. Mr. Lyons’ action in arranging for : national broadcast to comment oi newspaper reports is unprecedentei and created much comment in politi cal circles.
