SWIMMING

CASTLECLIFF SCHOOL ANNUAL SPORTS. On Monday afternoon the Castlecliff School held its annual swimming carnival. There was a large attendance of parents and friends to witness the keenly-contested events. Afternoon tea was dispensed to the visitors by the ladies of the school committee, and they also awarded chocolate novelties to the tiny competitors. At the end of the carnival Mr. Beattie, chairman of the school committee, congratulated the winners of the events, thanked Mr. Linz, who judged the diving, and also the teachers who organised the carnival. Mr. Beattie then called on Mrs. Allan to present the cups and trophies to the following:— Senior Champion Boy. Sydney Tahau; runner-up, Poihi Grey. Senior Champion Girl. - Daphne Brooks; runner-up, Joy Robinson. Junior Champion Boy. Sydney Tahau; runner-up, Allan Holloway. Junior Champion Girl. —Joy Robinson; runner-up, Odette Herrand. Beattie Cup. —Darcy Tauri. Allan Cup. —Kahuia Tahau. Trophy for Boys’ Freestyle.—Colin Tauri.
