MONTHLY MEETING OF COUNCIL (Own Correspondent.) MARTON, March 2. The Rangitikei County Council met on Friday, Cr. K. W. Dalrymple presiding over Crs. V. Smith, W. uooio, A. D. Mair, J. Brice, A. S. Coleamn, L. E. Deacon and L. Hammond, and Messrs. H. H. Richardson (clerk) and S. A. R. Mair (engineer). Leave of absence was granted Cr. R. G. Dalziell. correspondence. Local Government Loans Board, sanctioning loan of £4OOO for workers’ dwellings for a term of five years.— Received. Local Government Loans Board, approving of moneys received by way of insurance on Okirae cottage (destroyed by fire) for the re-building of same.—Received. Commissioner of Crown Lands, vesting the control of the Silveihope scenic reserve in the council for a further period of five yeaio, and asking that the council contribute to the cost of flood-gates and fencing a sum of not less than £4o.—The council could not see its way lo contribute towards cost of fencing and floodgates. Public Works Department, asking the council to consent lo land at the Bulls bridge being proclaimed as a public road.—Agred to. Transport Department, re the accident on eastern approach to tne Bonny Glen overbridge.—The department’ is to be informed that there was no excesive quantity of loose metal on the road at the point indicated. District railway engineer, requiring notices repainted, etc., at Turakina Valley and Ratana Road level crossings.—Referred to engineer. Power and Pagan, re log hauling over county road.—Referred to the chairman.

Manager, Erewhon Station, Ltd., asking that the old bullock tracK through the property be put in reasonable condition. Left in hands of engineer lo explain the position. R. C. Ongley, re road through Motukawa 2a No. 6 block (Waipuna Road).—lt was decided to endeavour to obtain the consent of the exchange of Waipuna Road through the Native Land Court.

Commissioner of Crown Lands, re proposed stock paddock and revolving the scenic reservation over an area of 1 acre 2 roods 33 perches. Notices are to be placed on the gates asking users to close the gates. It was decided that when the county by-laws were being reconstructed a by-law ’ dealing with the erection of hoardings on roadsides be included. Finance. Statement, of accounts as at March 3: Debit balance after last meetings payments, £38,039 10s lOd; payments since last meetings, £4388 5s 8d; receipts since last meeting, £13,483 Is 9d; debit balance before to-day’s payments, £28,944 14s 9d; to-day’s payments, £4066 Is 3d; debit balance after to-day’s payments, £33010 16s.
