Some sparkling cricket was seen today in the second and concluding day’s play of the Brahin Shield match on the Bason Reserve, Wellington, which ended in a draw with honours easy. Though the weather was fine and the wicket firm, cool, and blustering north-westerly winds made conditions rather cheerless. Palmerston Colt Does Well. G. Rahone, the 17-year-old ex-Pa'l-merston North colt, bowled remarkably well for Wellington, taking six wickets for 59 runs off 15 overs. He bowled into the strong wind all morning and had all the batsmen tangled up with his off breaks. Wellington applied the closure in their second innings when five wickets had fallen for 217 runs. Parkin and Dentice put on 101 runs for the second wicket. Requiring 263 runs to win in about 113 minutes, Canterbury gave a refreshing display of free hitting in its second innings, and had 179 up for the loss of six wickets when stumps were drawn at 6 o’clock.
