ARABS FIRE ON BRITISH POLICE OFFICERS

SUPERINTENDENT KILLED INCIDENT ON JERUSALEM ROAD Received Jan. 2, 8.40 p.m. JERUSALEM, Jan. 1. Arabs ambushed the Nablus-Jeru-salem road during the night and fired on a motor-car in which Sir Charles Tegart, police chief of Palestine, Major G. Brunskiil, staff officer, and Mr. Charles Tegart’s personal assistant, District Police Superintendent G. D. Sanderson, were travelling. Sir Charles Tegart’s car was preceded by armoured cars when it encountered a barrier ' of stones. Superintendent Sanderson joined the police, who went to remove them. The Arabs fired a volley and Superintendent Sanderson was killed. None of the others was hit. The Arabs escaped in the darkness.
