CANDIDATES FOR HAWERA YESTERDAYS GALLOPS Three candidates for honours al the Egmont Racing Club’s winter meeting | were seen in action on the Wangaj nui tracks yesterday morning, when i fast work was done on the outside of i the course proper, which was inl good form. Artful Dodger, who is engaged in the Tongahoe Hurdles to-morrow, was given three circuits, the first two at half-pace and the next a trifle ! faster. His trainer was in the saddle. [Artful Dodger will be ridden by C. Thomson to-morrow. Reipar (S. T. Edwards’ and Amaitory (K. Chote) were associated in a i spin over six furlongs, the distance • taking Imin. 19sec. Reipar had, il anything, a slight advantage at the post, but both were doing it well within themselves. Reipar is to run in the seven-furlongs Hawera Handicap to-morrow, and Amatory is engager in the hack trophy race on Saturday. Gaily (P. Morrison? followed this pair, jumping off from the seven fuil longs and running down to the two furlongs at a tAiart clip, and then coming home easily. Gaily is to run m the Connolly Handicap on Thursday of next week. Merry Ruler (K. Chote) - and Mozeltov (P. Morrison) went sever, furlongs in Imin. 32 2-ssec., being clocked to take Imin. 19 l-ssec. over the last six furlongs. Merry Ruler showed more pace than Mozeltov and was always a length in front, though neither was extended. Sam’s Choice (K. Chote) took 38sec. over the last three furlongs of a circuit, the first portion at a useful clip, and Captain Treville (S. Edwards) took a shade over 52sec. for four furlongs. I
