COLT BY FOX-EARTH OTHER YEARLINGS FOR N.Z. Mr. H. Bayly, of Wanganui, owner of the Auckland Cup winner The Buzzer, was one of the New Zealand purchasers at the Sydney yearling sales last month. For 325gns. he secured the chestnut colt by imported Fox-Earth from Delhi Queen, which was submitted on account of the Lyndhurst Stud, Warwick, Queensland. The Buzzard, sire of Mr. Bayly’s Auckland Cup winner, is at the same stud, and Mr. W. H. Gaisford of Dannevirke, purchased a closely-related colt out of Culfort for 650gns. He also | bought for 750gns. a Constant Sun colt I out of Comedy King mare Lute String. | Fox-Earth is by the Ascot Gold Cup I winner. Foxlaw. His oldest stock are ! now only two-year-olds, and he has . been represented by only a few runners to date. Delhi Queen, the dam of [ Mr. Bayly’s purchase, is by Syce-Rliy-I ney, by Grafton —Hempie, by Lochiel I —Nonsense, by Albany—No Name, by ‘Traducer. from Emma, by Gil Blas—i Emily, by Operator. This is New ! Zealand’s famous No. 18 family, which ; in recent years has given us such high- • class horses as Silver Scorn, Night- ! march and Silver Ring. Emily is a I half-sister to 10, ancestress of Trenton i and Beauford, and to Waimea, ancesj tress of Nightmarch, Silver Scorn and I others. Nonsense was sister to Dis- ' owned and Oudeis, both winners of the ' New Zealand Derby and a half-sister Ito the dam of Euroclydon, one of the [best three-year-olds that ever raced in ' New Zealand. Known in Dominion Mr. Gaisford’s Constant Son colt is a bi' vn out of Lute String, by Ccmedy King— Luteo’a, by Mutagon— Seen?, by Springfield—Helioscene. by Hampton. He was foaled on Septem-1 her 18 and belongs io the No. 1 family. There is some wondemil stay ing blood in this pedigree. Mr. M. J. Moodabe purchased a Cj’t bj Constant Son, for which he paid 450 guineas. He is out of Girton Girl, by Linacre—Miss Arlington, by Multiform -Lady Arlington, by Grafton. There is plenty of this blood in the Dominion, Girton Girl being a sister to Acre, whose stock are represented very liberally throughout the North Island. Mr. R. Stead (New Zealand) paid 260 guineas for a black filly by Pantheon out of Queen of Night. She is closely related to the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup winner The Trump. Queen of Night is by Comedy King - Taffle, by Junior - Tippingdale, by William the Third—Chelandry. Queen of Night is a half-sister to Koanle, dam of The Trump, and Tippingdale jis three-quarter sister to Popingjay, the dam of Magpie. No doubt the performances of Davi!slock in New Zealand impelled Mr. A. H. Potter, a Dominion purchaser, to bid 70 guineas for the David—Eumilia filly, a full sister to Davis rick.
