THE LABOUR CAMPAIGN
MEETING AT DURIE HILL A large attendance greeted the members of the Labour Party at Durie Hill last evening, under the chairmanship of Mr J. P. Hooper. Mr Hooper and several of the Labour candidates outlined the party’s policy with regard to municipal an? t local body affairs. Stress was laid on the need for more intensive beautification of the city. Other aspects, such as transport, water, and sewerage and the need for increased street lighting were dealt with. Mr W. J. Rogers, Labour candidate for the Mayoralty, gave a comprehensive review of his term of office. A unanimous vote of thanks and confidence in the Labour candidates and Mr Rogers was carried unanimously.
