The Wanganui Rugby season was opened on Saturday, a seven-a-side tournament in the city being won by Technical Old Boys’ Club with its A team. In the country districts included in what is now known as the “Greater Moye Scheme,” Bulls, Marton Old Boys and Taihape Town clubs were victorious at the expense of Hunterville, Taihape Country and Halcombe, respectively. Folowing are the results at a glance. At Wanganui: Technical Old Boys A defeated Kaierau A in the seven-a-side final by 5 to 3. At Bulls: Bulls defeated Hunterville by 12 to 6. At Halcombe: Taihape Town beat Halcombe by 10 to 3. At Taihape: Marton Old Boys beat Taihape Country by 23 to 3. At the moment there is a difference of opinion as to whether the ladder points won in the first round of the “Greater Moye Scheme’’ should be retained when the teams enter the second round. Until a definite decision is arrived at on the matter this column will regard the points as counting from the beginning. Accordingly, the senior ladder under the “Moye Scheme” stands as follows: — Taihape Town -2 Bulls 2 Marton Old Boys —2 Taihape Country ..... 0 Hunterville 0 Halcombe 0 (Wanganui and Old Boys, Technical Old Boys, Kaierau, Pirates, Marist and Waverley to begin the first round next Saturday).
