WAINUI-A-RUA UNION MEETS OFFICERS FOR NEW SEASON (Special to “Chronicle.") The annual general meeting of the Wainui-a-rua Rugby Union was held at Parikino on April 24, Mr. F. Fricderich presiding. The balance-sheet disclosed a credit balance of £l6 6s. this being approximately £6 more than the credit balance at the commencement of the 1937 season. Members expressed gratification at the healthy state of the finances. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: Patron, Mr. Ormond Wilson, M.P. (re-elected); president, Mr. H. Marumam (re-elect-ed >; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. R. Ford, P. Wilmshurst, Tanginoa Tapa, R. Bamber, A. Peters, R. Oxley, Father Dynan (re-elected), R. Whanarere, H. Aterea, J. Higgins, F. Friederich, D. Howard, and J. J. Lissette with power to add; management committee, Messrs. A. Flowers, R. Tapa, T. Pongi, R. Tamakehu, R. Pokiha, T. Murray, N. Takarangi, C. Potaka (chairman); secretary, M. Potaka; treasurer, C. Potaka; delegates to Wanganui Rugby Council, Messrs. H. Marumaru, C. Potaka and R. Tapa; trustees for union funds, Messrs. C. Potaka, R. Tapa, and P. Ilaanu; selectors, C. Potaka, R. Tapa, R. Pokiha. Messrs. E. Monk and A. Takarangi were elected life members of the subunion. The applications of the following members for admission to play in the Metropolitan area were granted: W. Howard, S. Leydon, W. James and J. Nagel. The season will officially open on Saturday. May 6, and so far four teams will be competing.
