BOYCOTT TALK
OFFICIALLY REFL’TEI [ Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, April 12. A refutation of any widespread official desire in Britain to boycott New Zealand goods because of the protection afforded local manufacturers was made by the British High Commissioner in Australia (Sir Geoffrey Whiskard), who arrived to-day, accompanied by his daughter, Miss Mary Whiskard. “Any move by sectional, and probably representative, interests to boycott New Zealand goods because of the protection afforded by the New Zealand Government to the Dominion’s own industries would be met at Home with the sharpest condemnation, not only by the Government and industry, but by public opinion. Of that I am quite sure,” he said. The old jealousies of the growth of secondary industries in othey parts oi the Empire had disappeared and in ter-Empire trade would continue t< grow. The greater the world trade the better for all concerned, including the Empire.
