(By Telegraph-—Tie** Association—Copyright!
Received April 12, 5.5 p.m. SHANGHAI, April 11. Recent events support the Chinese claims of a victory.
Chinese regular and guerilla troops are within 25 miles of Shaughai, all efforts by the normal Japanese garrisons from Shanghai and Hangchow having failed to stem them. Ten thousand *resh Japanese troops landed at Pootung on April 9 and marched to reinforce the front west and south-west of Shanghai, where they are hurriedly conscripting coolie labour to build fortifications.
Though the Japanese assert that the Chinese claims of successes are based upon lies, the comments of foreign military observers leave little doubt that the Chinese have retaken Taierchwang. north of Suchow, where the Chinese report that 5000 Japanese were killed.
Japanese taking refuge at Yihsien were severly bombed by the Chinese, who at present are not ready for a concerted attempt to recapture Tsinan.
The Chinese claim to have captured Chinghwang and Changshan.
