WEEKLY MARKET REPORT

UTELC’OME RAIN. The Farmers’ Co.op. Organisation Society of N.Z. Ltd., Hawera, report as under:— The week-end rain and that of the past few days will be most welcome to all farmers. These are the first good rains that the district has experienced for some considerable weeks, and must be of great benefit to pastures. Activities in the live stock market for the week have shown little to no change. The store cattle section has again comprised the greater bulk of the yardings, and values for this class have been well maintained. Works buyers have shown keenness for all classes especially heavy bulls suitable for their trade. Graziers are again supporting the markets after the rain and evidence of their competition was manifest at the last* two sales, young and suiable fattening cattle being well' sought after. Good rains have fallen in most other districts and there is no doubt that this will have a tendency for forward delivery buyers to again be in the field. The market generally speaking, since last week’s review, has shown practically no change. Kaponga Sale, Friday, November 12, saw a large entry of store cows and practically a total clearance was effectec*. Yearling steers to £2 15s, yearling heifers to £3 Bs, 2-year-old steers £4 15s, works cattle at full schedule rates, dairies, springing a.nd calved heifers from £6 15s to £8 19s.
