QUARRYMAN’S ORDEAL TWO FALLS OF SHINGLE Five hundred cubic yards of metal, collapsing from a wall of the Poraitc metal pit on Wednesday morning, buried Mr. Len Dickensen, a quarryman, aged 30, up to hips in shingle. Unable to leap clear at the sign of danger, he was trapped between the falling metal and a stationary lorry, and a few minutes later, while workmen employed at the quarry were endeavouring to free him, a further slip occurred and the imprisoned man was buried in metal up to his chin. Once again the men set to work to extricate Mr. Dickensen, and on the arrival of a doctor it was found that he had escaped with minor injuries to his legs.
