BULLS

THE FLOWER SHOW The annual flower show, under the auspices of St. Andrew’s and St. Martin’s Churches, will be held in the Town Hall on Monday, and the hon. secretary, Miss O. Levett, and a strong committee have all arrangements well in hand for this attractive function. This year the main features will be roses and irises, but sections are provided for pot plants, sweet peas, fruit and vegetables, as well as the usual cut and decorative flowers, and children’s section ana domestic. Mrs W. Stevens, of Bulls, who has the finest lot of bearded irises in New Zealand, will display a collection of choicest blooms. Doors will open at 2 p.m., and again at 7 p.m., and the show should attract large numbers. GENERAL NEWS Continued dry weather is causing anxiety to farmers generally, and a good downpour would be welcomed here. Cows are going off, but rain would relieve the position, bringing on fresh feed, which is badly needea. Lambs are doing well at present, ana several lots of "fats” have gone away to the works. One Raumai Road lady sent away a small lot of fat lambs on October 28, and they killed out at 321bs. Mr W. Dean, draper, has disposed of his business to Mr C. H. Edwards, and it is reported that one or two other businesses are under offer to new buyers. The probability of Bulls being the junction for Public Works men, and for those engaged at the Ohakea military aerodrome is making things "look up” here. Owing to the Manawatu Show today. tnere will be no draw for men's golf, and players may make their own arrangements. Shearing is in full swing here now and shearers are getting an uninterrupted "run” as far as the weather is concerned. The increased wages earned by the shearers should circulate a good deal of money between now and Christmas.
