THEIR MAJESTIES’ TOUR
YORKSHIRE'S ENTHUSIASM CROWDS LINE STREETS. [ British Official Wirelees.] RUGBY, Oct. 20. The whole countryside was shrouded in a thick grey mist throughout Their Majesties’ morning drive in continuation of their Yorkshire tour. Despite the cold Their Majesties used an open car. Great crowds gathered in the towns through which they drove, and greeted Their Majesties with enthusiastic cheers. In Bradford the crowd thronged the pavements 15 deep, and in the Town Hall Square more than 100,000 people cheered the King and Queen. At Lister Par 40,000 children wfere gathered, and Their Majesties listened to the children singing “Here’s a Health Unto His Majesty.” Despite the fog Their Majesties arrived at Halifax, where they lunched with the Mayor. After lunch they proceeded to the Town Hall, where there were many local citizens. The Australian Rugby League footballers were presented to them. Most enthusiastic greetings were extended by large crowds at Saltaire. Other Royal Tours. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester continued their tour in the West Country and that of the Duke and Duchess of Kent was carried out according to programme in South Wales.
