LADY TWYFORD
WIFE OF LORD MAYOR-ELECT BORN IN AUSTRALIA LONDON, Oct. 1. Lady Twyford, wife of Sir Harry Twyford, Lord Mayor-elect of London, probably will be the first Aus-tralian-born Lady Mayoress. Formerly Lady Twyford was Miss Ethel Honey. She is the eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Richard Goney, who lived in Woodville, a suburb of Adelaide. As head of Lion Timber Mills, and as commodore for many years of the South Australian Yacht Squadron, her father was widely known. Miss Honey met her future husband when on a visit to Singapore, where he was on the staff of the Eastern Cable Company. The wedding took place in 1900 at Woodville. Then Mr and Mrs Twyford—as they were then—spent part of Mr Twyford’s year’s leave in England and part in South Australia. When Sir Harry retired from the company, he and Lady Twyford went to England, where they have lived since. In 1935, Lady Twyford visited her relatives, including a brother in Sydney.
