ROADS FOR ABYSSINIA
HEAVY COST TO ITALY FOUR-YEAR PROGRAMME LONDON, Oct. 17. The Times’ Rome correspondent reports that a Royal decree authorises an “extraordinary expenditure” of £32,000,000 for the construction, completion, and maintenance of roads in Abyssinia during the next four years. SELASSIE’S FINANCES RESOURCES NEARLY ENDED LONDON, Oct. 17. Professor H. S. Jevons, a wellknown educationist, honorary secretary of the Abyssinia Association, says that a fund is being opened for the benefit of Haile Selassie, who is almost at the) end of his resources. Selassie states that the small amount of money he brought from Abyssinia has been exhausted in supporting his family and refugees, and he has been obliged to sell personal articles to which he was attached.
