MARATHON RACE EMPIRE GAMES TRIAL AUSTIN’S BRILLIANT WIN [ Per Press Association. ] DUNEDIN, Oct. 17. The Empire Games trial marathon race conducted by the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held at Mosgiel in perfect weather yesterday afternoon and resulted in a brilliant win for G. L. Austin, whose time of 2hr. 52min. 19 3-ssec. must establish a strong claim for his selection in the New Zealand Empire Games team. There were six starters, L. R. McMillan being the only other runner to finish the course of 26 miles 385 yards. His time was 3hr. 12min. 51sec.
