SOCIAL Mrs. W. Trewby and her son, Tony, have returned from a tour of the South Island. Mr. and Mrs. J. Bonnor, Kawhatau, are spending a few days in Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. M. Deighton, Kawhatau, leave to-morrow for a motor tour of the Auckland district. Mr. and Mrs. F. Bonnor, Kawhatau, have returned from Wanganui. Miss M. Dickinson has returned from a holiday spent in Wanganui. Miss B. Bailey, Kawhatau, is spending a few days at Rangiwahia. Miss C. Moon leaves for Marton tomorrow for a few days’ holiday. GOLF The ladies’ Wednesday competition (Stableford) was won by Miss V. Knight, Mrs. J. O’Callaghan was run-ner-up. Following are the players for Hawkestone during the week-end:— Mrs. L. FARMERS’ FIELD DAY Members of the Hunterville branch of the Farmers’ Union held a successful field day on Mr. W. K. Morton’s property, at Silverhope, when more than 90 farmers were present. Mr. A. L. Wheeler gave a talk and demonstration on Romney and Southdown sheep, and Mr. A. K. Morton gave a demonstration on Hereford cattle.
