SOCIAL EVENING
WESTMERE MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB The Westmere Miniature Rifle Club held a very successful social evening in the Westmere Hall on June 5.' There was a good attendance of members and their friends in spite of the boisterous weather. An enjoyable flag ”500” tournament was held until 16 p.m., when supper was dispensed by the ladies. After supper dancing, under the direction of Mr Frank Dawes, was indulged in until midnight. Card prizes were awarded to Mrs G. Tyler and Messrs J. Waters, L. Parkes and F. AyJing. The consolation prizes went to Mesdames Sykes and R. Laird and Messrs Stone and E. Roger. Special prizes were won by the following: Cards, Mrs R. Trillo and Mrs G. Taylor: dancing, Miss Mathews and Mr Mathews. A competition for which the club had donated a bag of sugar, was won by Mrs Robert Laird. Thep resident of the club, Mr R. Farley, in presenting the prizes, congratulated the club on the success of the evening and the fine spirit among the members and friends present. The singing of “Auld Lang Sync” brought a most happy evening to a close. Another card party and dance will be held shortly.
