BATHS COMMITTEE. A meeting of the provincial baths committee was held on Monday evening, Mr. W. Heginbotham presiding. Also present were Messrs. F. J. Bilton, E. C. Dallison, F. W. H. Sheppard, H. Boyne and C. Harden. In view of the excellent promise of support received it was decided to make a start immediately, with canvassing for funds for the erection of the public swimming baths in Waverley. It was decided to approach all sports bodies in the district requesting their assistance in raising funds and the possibiltiy of running a queen, carnival. Immediately alter the canvassing of the town district is completed another general meeting is to be called to give effect to the recommendations of the provisional committee. EGMONT-WANGANUI RACING CLUB MEETING. A meeting of the Egmont Wanganui Racing Club was held on Monday evening when Mr. J. E. Palmer presided over a good attendance of members. Those present were Messrs. C. H. Southcombe, G. Lupton, W. Mai hews, J. J. Johnson. D. I. Jackson, G. H. Graham, D. Lupton, S. G. Davidson, Ji Gray, T. Lupton, G. Aiken, I. D. Parsons, C. V. Pearce, H. W. James, W. H. Watkins. The statement of accounts for year ending May 31, 1937, showed a surplus of £567 9s lid for the year’s working. It was decided to hold the annual general meeting of members on Thursday, July 22, the nominations for the election of honorary officials closing on July 7. Mr. Tronson was appointed judge and it was decided to call applications for a starter. A donation of £lO 10s was made to the King George V National Memorial fund. WAVERLEY-WAITOTARA DOG TRIAL CLUB. Mr. W. H. Watkins presided at a meeting of the Waverley Waitotara Dog Trial Club, on Monday evening. There was a fair attendance of members. The balance-sheet was read and proved satisfactory. BASKETBALL CLUB. The Waverley Basketball team to play in the basketball tournament at Howera to-day (Wednesday), is as follows: Goals, Betty Bosher, Joyce Duffy, Lexie Morrison; centres, Jean Cook, Joyce Hill, Mary Stewart; defence, Nancy Heginbotham, Jean Morrison, Barbara Edwards. Emergency: Doris Clover. CONTRACT BRIDGE PARTY. In view of her approaching marriage Miss Jean Palmer was the guest of honour at a contract bridge party given by Mrs. F. Sheppard on Monday afternoon. On arriving, Miss Palmei was presented with a bouquet In rea and gold tonings and autumn foliage. During the afternoon Mrs. Metcalfe, on behalf of those present, wished Miss Palmer every happiness in her married life and presented her with a Bridge table and cards. Miss Palmer expressed her thanks and surprise and thanked the hostess for a most enjoyable afternoon. The prize for highest score was won by Miss Palmer and lowest by Miss K. Cleary. Those present were Mesdames R. P. Palmer, H. P. Metcalfe, P. Tennant, S. Barrow, and Misses J. Palmer, N. Mathieson and K. Cleary.
