I FARMERS' FIELD DAY I GATHERING AT SILVERHOPE Organised by the local branch of the Farmers' Union, a field day was held yesterday on the property of Mr w Morton, Silverhope, and a large number of farmers were present to spend an interesting day. Mr A. L. Wheeler delivered a most interesting address on Romney and Southdown sheep, while an equally interesting time was spent listening to Mr Morton's knowledge of Hereford cattle. During the afternoon, Mrs Morten and a party of helpers dispensed afternoon tea, which was greatly appreciated. GENERAL On Wednesday last Mrs it. F. Hogg. . .’aiershed Road, was the hostess at a gift afternoon in honour of Miss Audrey Graham, whose marriage to Mr Alister Lambert takes place on Thursday. During th r.'.ot enjoyable afternoon an interesting competition was held, Mrs K. P. Stace proving the winner. The bride-to-be was the recipient of many delightful gifts. Hunterville experienced winter with a vengeance at the week-end. On Friday night extremely heavy rain fell and soaked the countryside. Saturday was bitterly cold and brought a heavy frost on top of hail and sleet. Although the sun shone brightly on Sunday the day was very cold with a breeze and another frost was indicated. However, in the evening heavy rain and hail commenced again and continued throughout the night. Many water services were cut of action on Sunday with burst pipes. Snow fell not many miles from Huntervilie and the hills were white on the watershed road.,
