ON AWAPUNI TRACKS

HORSES FOR FEILDING YESTERDAY’S GALLOPS I Wednesday's heavy rain left the Awapuni tracks yesterday morning rather dead for the final gallops of s Manawatu horses engaged at the - Feilding meeting. The outside of the '» course proper was several seconds - slower than was the case on Tuesday - morning. There were some interest- “ ing trials, however, the best gallops 1 of the morning being executed by • Cloudy Bay, Corroboree. Wildflow r er, 1 Patter, and Happy Hunting. r The Lackham—Tallulah colt Orient 1 Dawn (Chaplin) conceded Party 1 (Mansfield) a start from the three 2 furlongs, but the latter was checked and the pair ran up the straight to- ’ gether, Orient Dawn’s time for the distance being 41 l-ssec. Ingenuity (Tattersail) did a mile ' and a-quarter of strong pacework, quickening towards the end to run her last half-mile in 53 2-ssec, the J final two furlongs in 25 4-ssec. In- ' genuity was going particularly well at the finish. ? Limbohm, ridden by his owner- ' trainer, Mr A. J. Toxward, trotted a couple of rounds on the inside grass. t He looks bright to begin a preparaE tion for the summer meetings, but j he is carrying too much condition at present to be quite ready for Feilding. j Gold Nymph worked strongly on the sand. Hot Shot (Tattersall) came home c the last two or three furlongs com--5 fortably in 22 2-ssec. Hunting Lodge Works Freely Hunting Lodge (Anderson), after running her first three furlongs in ' 39asec., was not bustled in the conJ eluding stages of her six furlongs gal- ’ lop which occupied 1.21 3-5. She worked well and appears to have 1 made a complete recovery from the injuries she received at Levin. ; Happy Hunting (Pine), working ' with her usual dash, went evenly over 1 six furlongs in 1.20 2-5. It is a pity ■ she will not reproduce her track form on race days. Round Score (Anderson) came ■ home well in the straight to just head i Severe (Broughton) at the end of seven furlongs in 1.36, the last six in 1.21 2-5. Rxiund Score looks well enough, but his form is hard to understand. Aurora's Love (Feasey) ran an easy five furlongs in 1.9 2-5 and was going comfortably all the way. Gay Molly (Pine), with Beau Lac (Tattersall), skipped in from the three furlongs in 40sec., both hitting out well in the straight. - Padnos did strong pacework, hitting out well. ’ Black Thread bowled along nicely on the inside grass. He is not engaged at Feilding until Monday and > will probably sprint on Saturday, morning. Laggard (Tattersall) and Gainsay (Brown) appeared to be going well within themselves over a mile in 1.53 i 4-5. the last three furlongs in 41 2-5 sec. 1 Le Touquet ( Anderson) ran an easy seven furlongs in 1.39 1-5. Cloudy Bay (Mansfield) and Dungarvan (Broughton) jumped away together from the seven furlongs peg, but Cloudy Bay quickly ran to the front to run her first half-mile in 52 ’ sec. and her first five furlongs in 1.5 L ; She was five lengths clear at this • stage and was not bustled to finish ? four lengths ahead of Dungarvan in l 1.33 3-5 for the full distance. Dun- . garvan is a lazy track worker, but he l pulled up well. Mirth in Galloping Mood. 1 Mirth (Tattersall) was caught in a galloping mood this morning and - Lavish (Anderson) was no use to her over seven furlongs run in 1.35 2-5, ! the former finishing well clear. Both • are very disappointing performers. ’ Finnesko, who looks a picture just ■ now, hit out boldly on the plough. > Limbohm (Broughton) made a seci ond appearance on the tracks, completing his six furlongs of pacework • by running home the last three in 42 . 3-ssec. He seemed to be going com- ■ fortably at the finish. Taumau (Pine) was under strong 5 restraint to keep with Evermore . (Brown), the pair finishing clear of r Tangled (McDowell) at the end of . seven furlongs in 1.38 2-5, after the > first half-mile had been run in 54 ! 4-ssec. , Lady Ina did an easy five furlongs. t She looks very well. L Old Surrey (Anderson) was not ! bustled to run his six furlongs in 1.23 3-5, the first three in 41 4-ssec. Wildflower (Broughton) impressed . by the manner in which she drew ’ away from Tipsy Miss (Tattersall) in the concluding stages of their five furlong gallop in the smart time of 1.7 1-5. They were not going over fast in the early stages, taking 40.'/c. for the first three, but they came ‘ home very solidly. 5 Black Fox (Scobie) did strong three- • quarter pacework, sprinting up the 1 straight. 1 Corroboree (Chisholm) impressed by the way he ran over seven furlongs in 1.33 3-5, the first half mile in* 52 3-ssec. Corroboree was going particularly . well at the finish and, while his chances on Monday cannot be denied, j a longer straight like Woodville or Trentham would suit him better. Pater (Scobie), after taking 40 1-5 . sec. for her first three furlongs, encompassed five furlongs in 1.7 and ap- ‘ peared to have something in hand at the finish. ’ Symcony, who rejoined W. Pine’s . team yesterday, did easy pacework on the plough. She is very light in condition and on her toes, and her ’ chances of being ready for Woodville ’ next month look far from bright. 2 Martara and Vonia Park were not L worked before breakfast. The Mar- ’ tarma three-year-old, who is well, • may be relieved of his engagement at 2 Feilding on Saturday and kept for the long races at the Woodville meeting. » Pango (McDowell), who has re- • cently been recommissioned, schooled attractively over a couple of hurdles i on Wednesday morning. I Oriwai, who has been showing signs ’ of soreness since making an attractive I debut at Bulls, has been physicked and 1 is an unlikely starter at Feilding on • Saturday. ) -
