MIGHT GOES AMISS

LAME AFTER WORK RONA BAY WELL AS EVER WELLINGTON, Nov. 26. Trentham stables will have only three representatives at the Feilding meeting; and, with most, of the other horses not racing till Otaki and the holidays, there was not a great deal of activity in tile wolk this morning. The weather was fine with the sun breaking through and the going on the trial grass, after the rain, was in delightful order for any who wished to gallop. Might will not now be al Feilding, as he was lame on cooling down after a good trial on Tuesday morning. The trouble may be serious, but he is being kept in active commission till the cause of the lameness has been ascertained. It is unfortunate for his connections, as he was ready to win a good race at any time. Darecourt (S. Wilson) finished several lengths in front of Nightlass (B. E. Edwards) after running seven furlongs in Imin. 30sec., the last halfmile in 53sec. Darecourt, who was omitted from the Feeding acceptances, will now be T. R. George s only horse at the meeting. He has the minimum in the Kiwitea Handicap and looks certain after his Levin showing to go a good race, though the class may be a little beyond him yet. Nightlass was galloped on at Levin, but the injury has mended and she is also to go to Feilding. Rona Bay, the centre’s other candidate for Feilding, looks every bit as well as she did last week and her improved appearance is a credit to her new trainer, T. Yates. With E. Burgess in the saddle, she was not out for time this morning but ran her last half-mile in 52sec. and did it well. Rona Bay, Darecourt and Nightlass will all be ridden at Feilding by S. Wilson, who will also be on Mata Hari, Prevail, and the two-year-old Ruling Star. Riding Engagements. Other riding engagements for Feilding include P. Burgess on Farmer, Aussie Ra, Davistock, Ohanga, ana Maestro, and J. McCauley on Waipiro. The rest of the morning’s work was mainly of an easy nature. Sunee (L. Nesbitt), however, went well in running seven furlongs alone in Imin. 29 3-ssec., the last half-mile in 50 l-ssec. First Spec (P. Burgess) and Alunga (R. Burgess), with Free Gold <B. Duggan> joining in in the straight, traversed five furlongs in Imin 4sec., the last half-mile in 51 2-ssec. Hine Ra <Wilson) did half a mile alone in 49 2-ssec., and Acceptable (J. Nicolson) ran six furlongs in Imin. 18sec., the last half-mile in 53st-e. These were best of the other trials. Cuddle (A. Tudor), who is going along satisfactorily in her preparation for the Auckland Cup, did her last three furlongs in 39sec. Debham and Deficit, who have not done well since their earlier racing in the spring, are at present being worked on the hills by H. Telford in the hope ’.hat this treatment will build them up again. Brunhilde is being educated to ihe reverse way of going in anticipation of a trip to Auckland for th° Great Northern Foal Stakes.
