WORSHIP IN SCHOOLS

1 PERMISSION ALREADY GRANTED • Special Correspondent). CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 23. That the Canterbury Education Board has given permission to school committees and teachers to hold religious exercises or instruction up to halt an hour a day, was revealed by the Rev. L. A. North, speaking before the Presbyterian General Assembly in Christchurch on behalf ol the Biole-in-Schools League. Mr North stated that the Wanganui and Otago Educa- | tion Boards had also given permission | for schools in their districts to open l witn a few minutes of religious exercises each morning. Already more than I thirty schools in Otago, by the wish 1 of teachers and parents, were using the opportunity offered. j “Our task is not to press for the ■ passing of some hasty legislation," said Mr North, "but to encourag? I people to use the opportunities already existing and to ask all educaI tion boards to give the opportunities which some already do." The assemb- ! ly asked its members to keep these I matters before Presbyterians throughlout New Zealand.
