GOVERNMENT EXTENSION OF GUARANTEED PRICES MR. POLSON INTERVIEWED The demal of the Prime Minister (Hon. M. J. Savage) that it was the Government’s intention to-include meat and wool in the guaranteed price scheme was referred to in an interview last night by Mr. W. J. Polson, M.l'. for Stratford. Mr. Polson said that at a largely attended conference of farmers, held at Feilding yesterday, he had quoted Mr. Savage, Mr. W. Nash and Mr. F. Langstonc over their own signatures as declaring that meat and wooi would be included. Mr. Polson said that the Prime Minister’s decision to recede from that position yesterday was the result of pressure of farming opinion. Mr. Polson stated emphatically that meetings of farmers which he had addressed throughout the country were almost universally opposed to the guarantee as outlined by the Minister ol Finance (lion. W. Nash) and also to the Government control of their produce. Resolutions had been passed at practically every meeting in support ot Mr. Polson’s attitude. At the conclusion of Mr. Polson’s address at Feilding yesterday a resolution was carried approving of h’s attitude and expressing confidence in him. This was carried after an amendment for a vote of thanks only had been heavily defeated.
