BELIEVED DROWNED
! SEAMAN'S DISAPPEARANCE [ Per Presß Association T AUCKLAND, May 5. The circumstances of the disappearance of a seaman. Cuthbert Carson, afed 27, of Punsonby, have led to the belief that he has been drowned in Waileniata Harbour. It is thought he fell overboard from the small cutter Rewa moored off Orakei. Tbevesel is owned by Nobel's Explosives Company. The crew, comprising Captain Peterson and Carson and two men came ashore in the cutter’s dinghy on Alonday evening to enable Peterson io visit his home, and Carson lowed back to the Rewa to act as night watchman. It. was arranged that he should row ashore at eight o’clock this morning fo take Peterson back to the cutter. However, Carson did not make an appearance and investigations showed that he had not slept on the ship and that his supper had been prepared, but had not been eaten. The dinghy was lied io the Rewa's stern. The bulwarks of the cutter, which is used for lightering explosives, are only 20in. high and it is the police theory that the man, who was a poor swimmer, may have fallen over them into the I harbour.
