AUXILIARY HOSPITAL
| SITE AT NORTHCOTE AUCKLAND DECISION. [ Per Pr..Hs Association I AUCKLAND, May 5. A decision to establish an auxiliary hospital on the North Shore on the board's endowment site at Northcote was made at a special meeting of tne Auckland Hospital Board. Details of the proposed hospital will be determined at an early date so that they can be submitted to the Health Department. The site, which consists of about 80 acres, is situated in the centre of Northcote. The board made its decision after il bad heard a deputation from Northcote, Birkenhead and Takapuna Borough Councils and the Wailernata County Council. The Mayor of Northcote, Mr R. Martin. who led the deputation, said it was estimated that of 890 patients from the ■ area now treated annually in Auckland Hospital 75 per cent, could rece.ve suitable attention in an auxiliary hospital on their own side of the harbour. The major cases would continue to be transferred and be treated at the base as at present. The board then decided to establish a hospital on Ihe North .Shore.
