RUGBY FOOTBALL Mr. Rex Hamerton presided at a committee meeting of the Batea Football Club on Saturday. The Alanaia Hibernian Society’s annual ten-a-side tuornament will be held on April 18 No decision was made, leaving the matter till .the annual meeting, which will be held on Alarch 23. The Taranaki Referees’ Association advised that members of the local club could join if they so wished. Any member desiring to do so should notify the secretary. 21 ST BIRTHDAY Air. Jack Julian, of the staff of General Alotors, Ltd, Wellington, visited Batea during the week-end. His sister, Airs. C. Beauchamp, assisted by his aunt, Airs. W. White, entertained iu hoiicur of his coming of age. Pink asters, cosmos and dajilias decorated the rooms. Novelty games and a treasure hunt entertained the large number of relatives and gujsts present. A dainty suyper was served, a feature being a beautiful cake. The guest of honour was toasted with full musical honours. COMING-OF AGE PARTY Pink and white streamers and greenery were the decorations used in the Kakaramea Hall last Friday, when Air. and Airs H. J. Hall entertained over 100 guests and relatives at a 21st birthday dance for their youngest daughter Ann. Airs. Hall was frocked in wine suede romaine, trimmed with, beige, the guest of honour wearing a pink green floral georgette frock and Aliss Gertrude Hall sunset ring velvet trimmed with silver lame. Dancing was the main enjoyment, punctuated with items and novelty dances. Air. Sultzberger (Eltham) and Aliss Knightbridge (Hawera) rendered elocutionary items. Aliss Aleharry and Air. A. Hall won the Afonte -Carlo. Pink and mauve asters were used to decorate the supper fables, which carried many delicious delicacies. Air. E. J. Linn, Normanby, proposed the toast of the guest o.f honour, who replied in a charming manner. Air. Harold Moore proposed the toast of Air. and Airs. Hall, thanking them for the pleasant evening, and mentioned the many happy times spent at “Shasta Knoll,” as their guests, and wishing them continued happiness and prosperity. Air. Ann then cut the handsome birthday cake, amid applause. Beautiful gifts were received by Alias Hall, including a gold key, which those present autographed. Relatives present were Aliss Grantham (Hawera), Airs. P. J. Linn (Normanbv), Mrs. E. J. Linn (Normanby), Airs. AL J. Hocklev (Normanby). Mrs. G. R. Grantham (Normanby), Airs. J.
