SCHOOL COMMITTEE. Air. R. E; Moore presided at flic monthly meeting of the Patea School Committee on Friday last. Also present were Mrs. A. A. Carey, Afessrs. Langslow, Ansley, Alays, -Coad, Alarshall. A letter was received from the Education Board, stating that the committee’s application for a grant for improving the school grounds had been forwarded to the department. Air. E. R. Hodge, architect to the board, wrote stating that he would attend to the repairs to the school baths. The chairman reported that the tarring of the back portion of the school playground had been carried out, but an extra sealing would complete the job in a thorough manner. The chairman asd Air. Mays were appointed a deputation to make representations to the Borough Council with a view- to the whole work being completed. in view of the fact that the necessary funds will be forthcoming from the department. It was unanimously resolved that the annual picnic be held on the same lines as last, year, and that tthe Catholic children be invited to take part. It was decided that a picnic held in an outside town would not be a picnic but ar. excursion, and that a- picnic similar to last wear’s at Opaku would be the best for the children. A special meeting of the committee and all interested will be called at a later ■kite.
